THE SUICIDAL BIRDS - Spend Your Life In Serious Misery!

The Suicidal Birds is a Dutch band who already have done a lot of exciting gigs. They played in the biggest clubs in the Netherlands like Paradiso/Amsterdam, Vera/Groningen and Waterfront/ Rotterdam for instance and they did some festivals like Metropolis, Noorderslag and EuroSonic 2006 and also EuroSonic 2009. The played at the Berlin Popkomm in 2007. They played some out-door festivals and both the EuroSonic and Noorderslag-festivals in Groningen, the Netherlands, January 2006 and 2009. The album was voted at number 10 in the end-year list of best albums of 2005 (including international releases) by Dutch main alternative radio-station vpro 3voor12.

The Suicidal Birds did 9 UK tours so far, 3 France tours and a lot of gigs in Germany and Swiss They were the sup. act. of Dinosaur Jr. in Vera/Groningen (NL) at their European kick off gig in 2005 and in AB Brussels ( Belgium ) 2005The Suicidal Birds shared stages with Lydia Lunch, the Drones , the Lost Sounds, Liars, Blood Red Shoes and a lot more great bands. They have done nine UK tours and also two BBCone sessions. The last sessions was a "live" session and has been on the BBCone radio on one-music with Huw Stephens on March the 28th 2006. The Suicidal Birds have also done a live session for X-fm in London. The John Kennedy show in 2008. The Suicidal Birds did two GlassShripm sessions in London and a television show in Germany. They are regular on the Dutch radio and the have had some video-clips on the Dutch television and digi tv.

The Suicidal Birds have done some France, German, Swiss, Italian, Denmark and UK tours in which has been promoted by the BBCone radio. The Suicidal Birds are two girls (Jessie: vocals, guitar/Chay: bass guitar, vocals) from the northern province Friesland, the Netherlands. The release of their debut album "Z-List" early 2005 on the Dutch independent label Transformed Dreams caused rave reviews in the Netherlands and UK. Airplay on Dutch alternative radio, BBC radio-one, xfm and on live web cast programme on dirty Radio by Rick Smith and Karl Hyde from Underworld, press- attention and extensive touring in the Netherlands and the UK ( more tours followed). The band got invited by BBC radio one programme one music ( the follow-up to the John Peel programmes) to do a studio-session for the programme at Maida Vale studio's, which was broadcast on September 27, 2005. In February 2006 they recorded a half hour live set for the programme at Maida Vale studio's, broadcasted march 28, 2006. The song "me animal" was voted # 41 in 2005 s festive fifty on BBC radio one s one music programme The Suicidal Birds the song “Summer Set Sun” ranked in the Dutch song of the year 2006. There has been a special in January 2007 on the BBCone radio.

The band has been touring in 2007 France, Germany, Denmark, Swiss, Austria and Croatia in 2007 to promote their album Versus Life. The Suicidal Birds have been touring in Germany, Swiss, Austria, France, Denmark, Sweden, England, Ireland and Italia in the first period of 2008 and did so in 2009 to promote their third album “Spend your life in serious misery”. The Suicidal Birds just did another session for the Dutch television in February 2010. This time they did an unplugged session. They did a small Dutch tour with a Swiss band in the Netherlands. And the Suicidal Birds are touring Germany, France, Spain, Swiss, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, UK, Italy, and more countries in 2010. The Suicidal Birds are one off the biggest alternative / underground bands of the Netherlands and the most playing and touring band of this moment.

Music: Armed with out-dated amps, ( self made) pedals, drum machine, bass guitar, guitar and the elastic strong and moving voice of singer Jessie they bring up a up raging storm, drenched in the raw passion the blues: Intense, urgent, confronting, personal, sometimes treacherously playful, exciting and inescapable. With a voice full of character, uncompromisingly distorted guitar- and vocal sounds and at times overwhelming sound-orgy, they manage to give feelings of doubt, craziness, tragedy, sex & drugs, hope and despair, believe and disbelieve a musical format deeply rooted in the blues combined with the energy of punk emphasising the rough and readiness, weirdness and wilderness that is so essential in rock and roll.
